I am a woman running

If you are a woman running you know why there are running articles on a site about living your fabulous life. If you're not running already I'll tell you why: Running not only makes you feel strong and fit, it makes you break boundaries and get out of your comfort zone (also called sofa). Whether you're a new runner or have run for years, pushing yourself that extra bit - just thirty seconds more or an extra mile - gives a tremendous boost to your self confidence. It makes you feel fabulous.

Unless you live completely cut off from TV, newspapers and gossip magazines you probably read about Katie Holmes (mrs Tom Cruise) running the New York marathon. The interesting thing isn't at what time she finished (it was good), but what happened after. Suddenly she got a great new hair cut and starts coming out as the new fashion icon next to Posh. She's oozing confidence and looks nothing like that almost shy, girlish woman who used to be in Tom's shadow. Look who's in the shadow now! Journalists says it's the marriage to Tom and the friendship with mrs Beckham that does it. I don't believe so. I believe it's the marathon. I'm sure that having finished marathon left Katie with a lasting feeling that she now can conquer the world, that she can do absolutely anything.

But it's not only the confidence thing. There's something truly zen about running. It's meditative. You can let your thoughts fly . You can dream. You can use the time you run to visualize your fabulous life. You get new ideas on how to solve old problems. Or you simply let go of all negative thinking, all stress, all frustrating and limiting thoughts.

When you run you are free.

Actually, it was that sense of freedom connected to running that always made me envy runners. I think I always had a runner inside me, but for "life" reasons I was 45 years old before the woman running was let out! As I'm writing this it's 15 months since I started "properly" - you can read about my journey here.I just came back from a run between the olive groves. I'm high on endorphines, feeling fabulous and I know there'll never will be a way back: I am forever a woman running.
