Meet the fabulous Queen Jaw Jaw of Alabama

I’m honoured that Her Royal Highness Georgia Richardson, aka Queen Jaw Jaw of Alabama, has agreed to contribute to this site with her witty everyday observations of life, whether it’s fabulous or not. Before joining the royal ranks and living a fabulous life Queen JawJaw was an ordinary citizen with an ordinary, boring job. But life wanted something more fun for her and she wanted more fun from life. Here's how it happened, told by Her Royal Highness, Queen Jaw Jaw herself:

I worked as a Budget Analyst for 25 years for a major engineering company. Yea gads, that sounded like an interview for Wheel of Fortune, didn't it? Anyway, I was sleepwalking through my job every day. I put the B in Boring. I dreamed of the day I would walk out the doors and never return to Corporate America. I even had visions of imaginary chains breaking loose as I ran out the door.

Then things changed. My Daddy became seriously ill. At the same time he was diagnosed with a fatal dementia, Lewy-Body Diffusion, my Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have four sisters, but I became one of the primary caregivers for both of my parents. With the company's permission and blessing, I literally moved my office into my parents’ home and worked from there. This was manageable for a while. Then we had to put Daddy in the Veteran's Home when we could no longer lift him. Mom was having chemo and radiation treatments, and was very ill. During all of this, Daddy also had an operation for prostrate cancer. To top it off, I had a near fatal car accident and like that wasn't enough stress, I quit smoking.

One night I got down on my hands and knees and said to the good Lord above, "Lord, I'm ready to snap. I don't know how much more I can take. I need you to help me. I need something to focus on that has nothing to do with death, dying, or sickness. Something just for me. To clear my head."

A few days later I decided to make a brochure on Lewy-Body Dementia because the medical communities were so unfamiliar with it, and there was a wealth of info on the Internet. So I did. Actually, I did it just to see if I could. I had just helped the marketing department put together a brochure for the company so it was fresh in my mind. Then I expanded it into an article. It was during this that someone said, "Did you know there's a new magazine in town? You should submit that to them. It's really good." So I did and within two days they called and wanted to publish it, and wanted to know where to send the check. I thought...."Check? There's money in this?" I was captured. They asked me if I had any humor, and I lied and said, "Plenty!" I sat down that very day and wrote, "Puffy, the Buffet Slayer" which is about over-eating at an all-you-can-eat buffet. They loved it. I began writing for them monthly, and soon had a column. I've evolved as a writer since that time, and have written for many publications, but honestly, it all started when I humbled myself and stripped away all thoughts of everything I lacked, and simply made room in my soul for things to come to me. Ask and yea shall receive...

Side note: I lost my Daddy in May, 2004 to this terrible disease, but I'm happy to report that my Mother is a breast cancer survivor!
