Greek Goddess Artemis - Your Goddess Within

TAKE THE FREE GODDESS WITHIN PERSONALITY TEST!

The Greek goddess Artemis is the goddess of nature, wildlife and hunting. She is your inner goddess if you love animals and prefer outdoor life to being indoors.

Artemis is also associated with the Moon and with birth – supposedly her mother Leto gave birth to her without pain and that’s why women should call on Artemis when giving birth. It’s said that one of her temples burned down the night Alexander the Great was born, as Artemis was present at his birth and didn’t manage to protect the place at the same time.

As a nature’s child she’s perfectly in touch with the rhythm of nature, including how the Moon affects both people and animals and how fertility and new life is directly connected to nature. At her temple at Efesos she’s pictured with bees on her dress (bees, you know – like the story of bees and butterflies).

The Greek goddess Artemis was accompanied by a troop of woodland nymphs and is usually depicted carrying a bow and a quiver. But despite being a huntress, she’s also a protector of nature and all animals. Like her, you strongly respect nature and though you might hunt, you’d never ever kill endangered species or go hunting out of season or illegally. Quite contrary – you are likely to work hard and passionate to enlighten people about endangered species and what can be done to save them.

But animals don’t need to be endangered for you to love and care about them. I know young girl who’s inner goddess is Artemis and who’d pick up ants, beetles and spiders, give them names and keep them in her room as pets. An Artemis is unable to leave a stray dog or cat. The Greek goddess Artemis sent a boar to raid the kingdom of Caldyon after King Oeneus forgot to make a sacrifice of the first harvest to her. Like the Greek goddess Artemis, you make animals do what you want. You whisper with horses and dance with wolves. Your dog is your best friend.

If Artemis is your inner goddess you’re an environmentalist. You don’t ignore the fact that if nature dies, we all die - and you clearly see what we do to destroy our environment. You probably stopped using plastic bags at a time when everyone thought you were weird and bicycle to work because it’s the most eco-friendly way to get there. You might have a car, but you feel guilty every time you use it. You won’t eat anything, but food produced locally and try to make your local supermarket stop selling fruits, vegetables, meat and fish transported across the globe.

You are freedom loving and no where do you feel as free as in the mountains, forests or out on the open sea. You love skiing, hiking and sailing – all sports that keep you in touch with nature. You might have a primitive cabin somewhere. The only way to get there is by foot and there’s no electricity or water in the tap, of course. With your great respect for nature you’re very careful about how you use it – you try hard not to leave a trace. You take your pride in that it doesn’t show that you made a fire or a camp. And of course, you’d never ever leave rubbish behind.

  • Home: A boat or maybe a cabin in the woods or in the mountains
  • Holidays: Paddling from Greenland to Norway in your kayak, climbing a mountain in an exotic location or watching over the gigantic Carrera turtles as they lay eggs on the beach in Skiathos.
